earthday So, today is “Earth Day”- which not so long ago seemed like a made up holiday intended to appease the tiny minority of “crunchy” folks among us.

Isn’t it amazing how much things have changed in a few short years?

The environment, sustainability and green living are no longer terms reserved for the Birkenstock crowd.  Instead, average folks like us are thinking about how we can use fewer resources and take better care of the planet that has been entrusted to us.

Even mainstream American Christians- long seen as being opposed to anything environmental for fear of being labeled “liberal”- are getting on board.

And thank God for that.

For the 2 of you who may be interested, here’s a blog post I wrote a while back about the connection between following Jesus and taking care of the earth.

So, here’s to Earth Day.

I’m not celebrating in any overt way- other than enjoying the beautiful Carolina spring weather and living a lifestyle that (although it has a long way to go) is much more mindful of my impact on and responsibility to care for the planet.

How about you?

Any Earth Day plans?

Does this holiday seem less weird to you than it did when you first heard of it?

Are you more mindful of the way you use the earth’s resources than you were 5 years ago?

Made any changes in your lifestyle with the hopes of having less of a negative impact and more of a positive one?
